When thinking about a career in the health care industry, one of the first things that comes to mind are the typical, hands-on jobs carried out by nurses, doctors, and other medical practitioners. However, there are other choices...

If you are interested in working in the health care industry but prefer to work one step removed from patient care, a career as a Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk may be the right choice for you. This diploma program enables graduates to work either as a clinical Medical Office Assistant or as a hospital Unit Clerk.

At ABM College our Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk program is designed to provide students with the technology, business, and communication fundamentals needed to work within a health care office setting. This comprehensive course covers four key areas: Medical Terminology, Medical Office Administration, Word Processing and Medical Transcription

This accelerated program provides students with exposure to current industry trends and to real-world office settings through our 4 week practicum. Additional program emphasis is placed on the development of the student communication and inter-personal skills required to successfully perform within a health care environment.

As health care continues to remain one of the fastest growing industries within Canada, prospective students can look forwarded to a broad range of employment opportunities. Upon successful completion of this program, you will be qualified to work in hospitals, clinics, and other health care centres.
