World Health Day is celebrated on April 7th every year. While we may focus on actions we can take to better our health, it’s also important to acknowledge the professionals in our lives that help us take care of our health and wellbeing.

There are many commonly overlooked professions in healthcare, such as the role of health care aides, dental office administrators, medical office assistants, and more. These professionals play a critical role in people’s every day care, and provide remarkable skills and services to those who require it. In this blog, we’ll go over how the roles of Dental Office Administrators, Medical Office Assistants, and Health Care Aides can improve their patients’ health and wellbeing.

Medical Office Assistant (MOA):

Medical Office Assistants are able to work in various environments, including clinics, hospitals, and other types of care centres. Often the first point of contact for patients and other community members, they have great interpersonal skills and make sure they understand the needs of individuals, making them feel acknowledged and welcomed. They have the skills to build rapport, make appointments, and minimize conflicts, creating a safe environment where members of their community feel comfortable to return for health check ups, enhancing the population health of the area.

The clerical work they take care of includes billing, data entry, updating information, answering queries, and dealing with insurance, claim forms, and referrals. While these may seem like mundane tasks, MOAs are taking a lot of weight off the doctors’ shoulders so they can be better focused to provide patients with the best care and diagnosis. MOAs are also the people to reach for documents of test results and the like to pursue further care, improving their health.

Health Care Aide (HCA):

Health Care Aides take up a chunk of the daily tasks that their clients need help doing, such as making breakfast, taking care of hygiene, giving medication reminders, and more. While these tasks may seem simple and the average person will not think twice about them, they may be difficult for those individuals or families who require the help of HCAs.

When HCAs provide their services, they are significantly improving the quality of life of their clients and their ability to live well. Helping with everyday mundane tasks can change the trajectory of a person’s life, especially those who are aged, are not able-bodied or have other health issues that they may be dealing with.

HCAs often feel the work that they do is rewarding since they’re helping to improve their community. There’s a sense of fulfillment in being a health care aide knowing that you provide essential care that humans simply cannot live without. From taking care of hygiene to providing companionship, HCAs have a vast scope to their services.

Dental Office Administration (DOA):

Dental Office Administrators are required to have a lot of interaction and contact with their clients. They’re there to follow up with appointments and listen to their patients’ questions and concerns, answering them to the best of their ability. They also take care of much of the organizational and analytical tasks such as documentation of dental work, and dealing with money, costs, and insurance. Without the role of DOAs, patients would not be able to receive the care they need in a timely manner, which could lead to detrimental circumstances.

Professionals who are DOAs also play an important role in promoting oral health and hygiene. They cater to all individuals regardless of age or where they are in life and find solutions to monetary issues. As a DOA, you’re able to suggest at-home care and discuss with clients about how they’re feeling after undergoing a procedure. You’ll be key to people’s health, happiness, and satisfaction.
