During the holiday season at the end of the year, many people and careers tend to take a break from their work for a few days because of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Years celebrations. It’s a relaxed, fun time for many individuals and families, but on the flip side there are some professions that are actually busier, or aren’t fully able to take that kind of break because the demand for them continues or even increases throughout the holiday season. In this blog, we’ll go through some of those professions and why they’re needed at the end of the year.

Health care aides

Health care aides are important year-round and their work continues throughout the holiday season. Just because it’s the holiday season, doesn’t mean that stops patient care, especially for those who may have chronic issues.

Since there’s also many people that may be feeling lonely during this time of year or don’t have family and friends to go to or that can visit them, so they may seek companion care and health care aides will spend time with these clients. This can also be heightened due to COVID and the new Omicron variant as well, which has stopped many people from seeing their loved ones this year.

Mobile app developers

People tend to increase their use of various mobile apps whether it’s for food delivery, online shopping, ride sharing or anything else during this time of year. Because of this, mobile app developers are needed to continuously maintain the apps they’re working for and fix any bugs and create updates.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas as well, usually at the beginning of November, websites and apps also change their theme or interface to seem more “Christmassy” which mobile app developers have a hand in designing and maintaining, and also changing it back or creating a new theme when the season is over.

Community service workers

On the holidays and the weeks leading up to them, community service workers are putting in their best efforts. There’s often fundraising and drives for the less fortunate for food, toys, clothing, and other things so that everybody in the community can enjoy the fun days at the end of the year.

On Christmas and New Years community service workers may not be at home with their families, but rather leading events and distributing materials to individuals or families who cannot afford to celebrate the same way as everyone else, making those people feel included and helping them realize that they are also important and deserve to have fun.

We applaud all these professionals for offering their needed services during the holiday season. These people often work out of their good will and have a passion for helping others, something that is much needed at this time of year.
