ABM College understands that a little financial aid can go a long way for students who are looking to invest in a quality education that will lead to a more successful career. If you require assistance funding your education, we want to help you decide which funding option is right for you. This could be a private loan, such as from a banking institution, or government student loans. We also offer scholarships, awards, financial aid and payment plans to our students. Do not let a lack of funding hold you back from pursuing your academic and life goals.

Financial Advisors

Our financial aid team is here to help you through every step of the financial assistance process. You might be eligible for funding you never knew existed!

ABM College’s financial advisors are up-to-date on the latest program scholarships and other financial awards available for our students. They will help determine your eligibility, assist you with your applications, and work with you to help secure funds before starting your program.

Government Student Loans

The Governments of Canada, Alberta and Ontario provide loans to qualifying students. Although the type and amount of assistance usually varies based on individual circumstances, government student loans make sure every qualified student receives financial aid for his/her education.

Student Lines of Credit

Student Lines of Credit are available to full-time and part-time students who require assistance financing their studies. This is different from traditional loans, as they allow you to borrow money as per your need with interest being charged only on the amount used. Most major banking institutions offer student lines of credit. Eligibility criteria (e.g. credit rating, net worth etc.), the amount loaned, and the interest rate will vary from institution to institution. Contact your preferred banking or credit union institution for more details.

Loan Repayment Guide for Graduates

Congratulations on your graduation! As you embark on this new chapter of your life, we know your first priority is to land a great job in your field. Another important thing that you need to keep in mind though is the repayment of your student loans.

Most student loans consist of Federal and Provincial portions, and it is important to understand both. The guide below will help you navigate this process effectively and painlessly.

Federal Student Loans for Canada

National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC)

Provincial Student Loans (BC/SK/MB/ON/NL/NB/YK)

Provincial student loans for British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, and the Yukon repay through the combined management of the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC).

Provincial Student Loans (AB/NS/PE)

Provincial student loans for Alberta, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island repay the two loans separately. The Federal loan is paid through the NSLSC. The Provincial loan is paid through your province.

Provincial Student Loans (QC/NT/NV)

Provincial student loans for Quebec, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut are paid directly to your province or territory.

‍The Grace Period for Repayment

Following graduation, the government provides a grace period with no interest to help you find and establish yourself in a new job. The first repayment installment is due within six months for the Federal portion and within twelve months for the Provincial portion.

Payments can be made in advance to reduce the principal which results in less interest once payments are due.

The Importance of Repayment

Like any loan, failure to make timely repayments may result in penalties, additional fees, or adverse effects on your credit score. It may also result in the loss of future student aid or grant assistance, as well as income tax refunds and GST rebates.

It is important to fulfill your repayment obligations and promptly inform the loan servicer of any changes to your contact information or financial situation.

Repayment Assistance

If you are struggling to make your payments, you can apply for repayment assistance from the government through Student Aid

But they have flexible hours to attend so working students can choose a time to work with your schedule. All instructors are very approachable and staff are very accommodating. A great school that I will not forget.
