Juggling academics, extra-curricular activities, part-time jobs and social outings, college students are some of the busiest people around (check out this article for some fun data on the topic). Fortunately, there are many tools designed to help. This is a selection of five of the most helpful ones out there.

1. Evernote

Evernote is an extraordinary piece of software for note talking. It is offered in web-based, desktop, and mobile versions, which can all synchronize together as well. Loaded with powerful features like bookmarking, composing, and clipping, Evernote is the king of note taking applications. Ditch OneNote or Word and try Evernote. Seriously, you won’t regret it. Best of all, it’s completely free.

2. Microsoft Office 365

An essential for any student, Office 365 offers all of the original Microsoft Office features in the cloud. You will be able to access your papers, spreadsheets, and presentation decks from anywhere at any time, and also never be worried about potentially losing your work, as 365 saves it into the cloud continually (literally every few seconds).

3. EasyBib

The dreaded bibliography or reference list will no longer be so with this great application. Available in a wide variety of citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) EasyBib generates citation lists and bibliography entries for all kinds of sources including books, magazines, journals, websites, videos and speeches.

4. Wolfram Alpha

This application will do your math homework for you… Seriously though, Wolfram Alpha is a computational engine jam packed with advanced calculators and graphing tools. It covers topics as diverse as statistical probabilities and trigonometry. I swore by this software when I took calculus and I recommend it to anyone who might struggle with mathematical concepts.

5. Google Drive

A free alternative to Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive is better known in post-secondary circles for its excellent sharing and synchronization features. An essential for group projects, Google Drive offers powerful collaboration tools, group chatting, and continuous saving into the cloud.
